We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Data Scientist to join our Risk and Fraud team at Transak. As a Data Scientist focused on Risk and Fraud, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our platform against fraudulent activities and mitigating potential risks associated with cryptocurrency transactions. You will also work closely with our Product and Compliance teams to gather data on how our Risk & Compliance data stack is performing, ensuring Transak’s product and systems continues to adapt successfully to an ever evolving regulatory climate.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyse large volumes of transactional and user data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies indicative of fraudulent behaviour. Use this analysis to suggest possible countermeasures to emerging fraudulent typologies.
  2. Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of risk factors, adjusting models and strategies as necessary to adapt to evolving threats and regulatory requirements.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, and Compliance to integrate risk mitigation strategies into our platform's infrastructure and processes.
  4. Design and maintain data pipelines for efficient data collection, processing, and analysis, ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the process.
  5. Communicate findings and insights to key stakeholders through clear and concise reports, presentations, and dashboards.
  6. Fulfil ad-hoc data requests from Risk and Compliance teams
  7. Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in risk management and fraud detection within the cryptocurrency industry.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or advanced degree in STEM field from a top-tier university.

3. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, along with experience using libraries and frameworks for data manipulation, analysis, and machine learning (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow).

4. Solid understanding of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and experimental design, with the ability to apply these concepts to real-world problems.

6. Familiarity with blockchain technology, cryptocurrency protocols, and the unique challenges associated with fraud and risk in the crypto space.

7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to think critically and creatively.

8. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

9. Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, self-structured, and dynamic environment with tight deadlines and evolving priorities.
