Job Description

What’s your job/responsibilities

As a Senior Financial Business Control Officer you are involved in the finance department activities, with the scope of preparation of financial statements and proper functioning of department’s processes and systems. You perform pre/post-closing journal entries and related activities, including reconciliations in the general ledger and between systems.

Together and in close cooperation with the finance team members:

  • You run accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • You work on the preparation of the financial statements and financial audits.
  • You are involved in the improvement of systems and processes.

As part of a small international team there is room to shape the contents of the role together with your manager. In this role you will report directly to the Head of Finance. As the organization is constantly evolving, you will be involved in various business projects to ensure that the consequences of these changes for the Finance department are adequately covered and assessed.

Furthermore, you are expected to participate into:

  • Preparation of ledger accounting, including (review of) controls of daily activities;
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to meet the Group’s deadlines (balance sheet, P/L, cash flow, off-balance sheet, impact of US GAAP);
  • Monitoring the financial records (income, costs, balance sheet, regulatory capital) with the aim of ensuring that the figures are correct and explain variances;
  • Book, control and review of customer invoices including monitoring the collection of the fees and interest amounts;
  • Monitoring cash reconciliation process (postings, matching, escalation for solving any items under dispute);
  • Monitoring and analysing / reconciling differences between systems and take immediate action if necessary;
  • Participation in the department’s control governance (including SOX compliance as required by the group) and regulatory and statutory reporting activities;
  • Addressing any ad-hoc requirements received from the company’s management, group finance, internal and external auditors, other departments in the company;
  • Continuously improvement, review and implementation of the departments procedures and policies to enable and ensure optimal flow of activities in the department and company;
  • Developping new initiatives to improve efficiancy and automate the department’s activities and ways of “doing things”;
  • Participates to different projects in which the finance team presence is required.

You are passionate about finance and accounting. You have an internal drive to solve problems and to continuously look for solutions and improvements. We expect you to improve, review and implement the department’s procedure, policies, and IT to enable and ensure optimal flow of activities in the department and company.

Is this you?

  • Bachelor, preferably master’s degree in financial studies
  • You have at least five years’ experience in a similar role
  • General knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP
  • Capable of resourceful problem solving and looking for improvements continuously
  • Comfortable in a very fluid environment that changes as the business evolves
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal is a must

You will be part of a small international team of ten employees that works closely with various finance functions of Cboe group located in the UK and in the US. This has the great advantage that you have quick access to information and that improvements and changes can be realized easily.
