Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Analyst focused on Risk to help strengthen Rho’s fraud and risk analytics capabilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, risk, and business strategy. You will play a key part in supporting the fraud team with data-driven tools and insights that improve decision-making, detect emerging threats, and ensure risk policies are well-calibrated to protect both the business and the customer experience.

You will contribute to the full lifecycle of fraud strategy—from data exploration and rule testing to reporting and process improvement—collaborating across operations, compliance, product, and engineering.

At Rho, risk isn’t a constraint—it’s an opportunity to innovate responsibly. As a Data Analyst supporting our risk functions,, you’ll have a direct impact on how we protect customers and the business while maintaining speed, usability, and trust. If you're passionate about solving hard problems at the center of fintech and risk, we'd love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

Fraud Risk Intelligence

  • Analyze transaction and user behavior data to inform the development, tuning, and evaluation of fraud rules and controls.

  • Conduct root cause analysis on fraud incidents to identify vulnerabilities and recommend targeted mitigation strategies.

  • Build dashboards and reporting tools that monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and highlight actionable trends or anomalies.

  • Evaluate rule performance metrics—such as detection accuracy, false positive rates, and user impact—to optimize the effectiveness of fraud prevention strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the fraud team and other risk stakeholders to design and execute testing, pilot initiatives, and continuous strategy improvements.

  • Collaborate across departments (e.g., product, engineering, compliance) to translate business questions into analytical solutions.

  • Provide clear, data-backed recommendations that support both immediate fraud response and long-term prevention efforts.

Data Infrastructure & Enablement

  • Use SQL and Python to analyze large datasets, run simulations, and automate recurring fraud analyses.

  • Partner with data engineering to ensure risk-related data is clean, accessible, and modeled for effective use.

  • Develop scalable, self-service analytics resources to empower the fraud and risk teams with real-time insights.

Qualifications:

Experience & Domain Knowledge

  • 2–4+ years of experience in data analytics, ideally within fraud or risk functions in fintech, payments, or banking.

  • Knowledge of fraud detection techniques across card transactions, ACH/NACHA, wire transfers, and disputes.

  • Familiarity with evaluating or integrating third-party fraud tools (e.g., Mastercard, Sardine, Alloy, Galileo) is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with Python for data analysis and modeling.

  • Expertise in BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI for reporting and dashboard development.

  • Experience working in cloud-based data environments such as Snowflake or Redshift.

Soft Skills

  • Effective communicator who can distill complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical thinker who thrives in fast-moving, collaborative environments.

  • Self-starter who takes ownership of projects and follows through from analysis to implementation and reporting.
