Head of People Acquisition and Retention
About the role:
As a senior leader within the organization, the Head of People Acquisition and Retention is both tactical and strategic. This role is responsible for building, implementing and delivering all Human Resource operations, including processes and services that create, support, and sustain a high performance, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture. This position also leads, consults, and influences management and all team members. In particular, this role requires a candidate with good working knowledge of technology, technical roles, technical skills, and the recruitment process and a proven ability to recruit interesting and entrepreneurial candidates.
• Graduate degree in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent • Minimum of five years of experience managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process focusing on computer engineering and related technical roles, preferably in a start-up • Exposure to technology, agricultural, oil and gas, supply chain, and government markets a plus • HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) and SHRMs Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential preferred About you: • 5 to 7 years HR experience with dynamic, challenging responsibilities as a technical recruiter for a software company, preferably for a start-up • Ability to effectively plan and organize • Ability to create and implement diverse sourcing strategies for recruitment for varying roles • Ability to recruit for both complex technical roles and non-technical roles and guide candidates through a recruitment process that includes several stakeholders • A history of guiding leadership to develop a culture of innovation, excellence, and openness; abilities and ideas that build and improve the culture • Ability and willingness to work at all levels of the HR “stack” – Strategic, operational, and tactical • Kind, humble, and able to empathize with others • Ability to learn quickly and understand new and emerging technical requirements that affect acquisition of talent • Results driven with strong analytic skills
• Oversee planning and carryout of recruiting-from writing job descriptions and then sourcing, screening, and offering positions to qualified candidates • Attend and participate in college job fairs and recruiting sessions • Build out benefits and compensation model • Build a strong partnership with our team through proactive delivery of HR services • Provide guidance to managers and team members on coaching, mentoring, training and development, rewards and recognition, and performance management • Manage and resolve complex team member (employee) relations issues • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance • Facilitate the development of performance management processes throughout the organization • Provide guidance to managers and leads to improve the effectiveness of employees (coaching, counseling, career development) • Collaborate with Executive team to proactively improve work processes • Identify training opportunities for various business units • Develop and deliver training programs that support the growth of the organization
